WEIR provides safety investigation assistance in surface and underground mines and in surface and underground construction. The breadth of mining, geotechnical, and construction experience of WEIR personnel can provide expert advice on matters that relate directly to safe mining processes and methods, ground conditions and support, site conditions, equipment maintenance and use, geologic environments, and the potential for, and control of, methane and other hazardous gasses.

WEIR participated in multidisciplinary teams reviewing the operations and safety of several mining operations, including underground coal, gold and platinum mines, underground trona mines, and surface and underground copper/gold and coal mines. These audits have been conducted on behalf of outside parties who require an independent review as part of a due diligence study.

WEIR's staff have been involved in the review of several substantial new mining regulations proposed by the MSHA, OSHA, and the EPA. This has resulted in a thorough understanding of the operations of federal government agencies. WEIR also provides clients with assistance on proposed mining ordinances at both the state and local levels.
