Geology
Reserve determination is the first step of any mining operation. WEIR has
significant experience in managing and supervising drilling programs, including
the development of contractor specifications and bid packages, in addition
to the competitive selection of qualified contractors. WEIR is experienced
in many drilling techniques including diamond core drilling, reverse rotary
drilling, auger drilling and rotary duplex. We have experience in advising
clients and contractors of specialist techniques for advancing through difficult
ground conditions including casing advancers and grouting.
WEIR provides comprehensive services for the review and testing of retrieved
samples whether it be coal core samples or diamond bearing core. The company
has developed sampling protocols for sample collection, handling and analysis.
Geologic Modeling
Utilizing the results of the exploration program or using client supplied
data, WEIR has the in-house modeling capabilities to develop sophisticated
geologic models. Modeling packages regularly utilized include SurvCADD. For
certain large geologic databases WEIR has also used a GIS approach to data
analysis and presentation.
The output from the modeling is presented in both tabular format and graphically,
either as plans and sections or as solid 3D renderings of the reserve. Based
on the modeling and review of the reserve data WEIR provides reserve reports
and reserve certifications.
