Industrial Minerals
WEIR is actively involved in the industrial minerals industry providing exploration, quarry development and related consulting services to producers of stone, sand and gravel. WEIR personnel are experienced in quarry development, both surface and underground, evaluating and valuing stone reserves and resources, and working with communities to address and mitigate issues related to quarry development. WEIR also offers basic and advanced supervisory training to industrial mineral producers throughout the United States and Canada.
Metals
WEIR's consulting services to the metal industry includes providing assistance to producers, consumers and financial service companies relating to rare earth minerals in Australia and Canada, potash mine development in Spain, bauxite reserves in India and gold resources in Africa and South America. Insurance
WEIR provides a wide range of services relating to insurance issues for coal, industrial minerals, and metals projects worldwide. Determining the extent of loss, damage, and business interruption relating to events that have occurred at mining operations are services that WEIR provides to insurance carriers and to the insured. WEIR personnel have the required expertise to identify and quantify damage to and/or loss of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure in addition to determining lost profits relating to business interruption claims.

Legal
WEIR personnel have been retained by legal firms as consulting experts to provide professional opinion and expert witness testimony in arbitration and litigation matters related to the mining and energy industries. Our work approach is based on investigation, evaluation, and documentation of the issues to provide competent professional advice and testimony, and to understand both the defendant and plaintiff's positions. Services provided to legal firms include acquisition and value analysis, antitrust, business interruption, coal sales contract, environmental compliance, insurance loss, lost coal, and prudent mining issues. WEIR personnel have presented testimony in arbitration, and in litigation in both state and federal courts.

Synthetic Fuel
WEIR has provided professional services and technical assistance to clients in the synthetic fuel industry since 1998 offering design, engineering, construction management, and owners' representative services relative to construction and relocation of synthetic fuel facilities. Synthetic fuel facility production tests have been designed by WEIR to verify productive capacity and opine on the operating and maintenance procedures of the facility. In addition, WEIR has developed sampling protocol and testing procedures to document sampling and analysis of plant feedstock and synthetic fuel product. Synthetic fuel facility monthly or quarterly audits have been provided by WEIR to monitor facility operations including production, costs, safety, maintenance, product quality, and operating procedures.
