Paul Weir Company was established in 1936 by Mr. Paul Weir, who became internationally recognized for his achievements and contributions to the mining industry. Paul Weir was the recipient of many awards for outstanding work and service to the coal mining industry.

Over the years, the company grew and expanded its services, building a reputation for providing independent, professional and dependable service worldwide, applying high professional and engineering standards.

Paul Weir Company did not manufacture, sell, or distribute mining machinery and equipment, and did not own or market coal properties. Specializing in coal and bedded minerals, the Paul Weir Company offered a full range of consulting and engineering services in mining, geology, economics, combustion technology and utilization.

Paul Weir Company (Weirco) was established in Chicago in 1936 and since then grew and expanded its services, while building a reputation for successful and dependable performance worldwide.

In 1988 Weirco became a member of the International Mining Consultants (IMC) Group of companies, a worldwide leader in providing specialized mining consulting services.

Weirco offered mining, geology, and engineering and consulting services to the mining industry working for many operating companies, in addition to public utilities, railroads and financial institutions.
